Seriously, though! They don’t ride up. They’re comfy. They look good on my curves. Just all around yes!
Based on the size chart and my waist/hip measurements (apx 30/40) I ordered the medium, though Large fits me best in the Take a Hike shorts and Open Air pants.
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and glad I waited til Alder had a sale to invest in these high-quality shorts rather than go with a cheaper brand- even if the price dropped more after. I immediately took them out for a jog on the hot day they arrived, and they stayed sweat free, plus I love how snug and secure they are.
However, a note that the waist felt a little tight, there is a thin band at the top to keep them up and that dug into my stomach (actual waist measurement of shorts: 25.5") so I recommend considering sizing up if you have similar waist measurements, esp if you have any sensitivity to tight waistlines.
I started my outdoor fitness routine pretty recently and am sold on Alder now, their pieces actually look cute, fit my curvy/petite body, and I feel confident they will last throughout repeated use.
Loveeee the blue floral pattern. It’s the main reason I wanted these shorts! Plus I had bought the Roots collab green version last year and they were awesome. I will say that now that I’ve worn them a few times, I find the blue ones this year seem to be slightly thinner and fit slightly tighter (specifically around the thighs and waist bands) than the ones I have from last season. I still wear them, and they might stretch out a bit with time, but in the future I might size up! I’m 27 waist, 35 hips, bought my usual XS, small might be more comfy? Otherwise great piece. Soft, stretchy, and gorgeous print.

I love the true high waist, it sits at my natural waist well above my belly button which is very flattering. The waistband stays put and never rolls down. The material is a thicker comfortably compressive fabric that is quick drying. The length is perfect and doesn’t ride up. Pockets are nice and deep and securely hold my phone and my insulin pump (I have type 1 diabetes and I love Alder for the great pockets that give me the perfect spots to stash my pump!). I wear these almost every day now and will definitely need to invest in another pair! My only request for future iterations of this style would be a small pocket on the back of the waistband which would be an even more perfect pocket to stash my insulin pump (or a key or credit card for people that don’t have a pump). I’m usually a size medium and the medium fits perfectly, true to size.

These shorts have such a nice weight to them and I love the pockets. They wear so well and do not pill in the wash. Highly recommend - cute to wear athletically or with a big oversized blouse casually.
