Good fit except for chub rub

I'm a size 12/14 and I bought an XL, which fits perfectly. The dress looks and feels great, especially on hot and muggy days when I want an outfit that is both cool and simple. The only downside is that the shorts ride up, like most shorts do with chubby thighs. Too bad. I hoped they would stay down.

The fit is great!

Wonderful qualify. The fit is great. The shorts underneath slide up just a bit, but not enough to change my review rating. Wish I could afford this is every color!

Lovely dress with clever details

First, the design is very smart and everything I wanted in a recreation dress. I received this in size 2X during a DC heatwave, and I wore it for two days in a row for walks and generally just keeping cool. I usually wear a size 16. I appreciate the built-in shorts for modesty and comfort--this allows you to move about without worrying about flashing anyone. While the shorts pocket fits my iPhone XS, I didn't trust keeping it in there for activity. Luckily, it also fits in the two zip pockets, which securely and discreetly hold your phone and keys. The overall fit is almost perfect on my hourglass, short-torso physique. The straps are somewhat loose on me, and I am a 40C; I may consider altering. The top definitely stretches out; but a neutral sports bra or bralette does the trick.

As for the back zip, I'd prefer a side zip as 1) I drank too much iced coffee one day and didn't find it pee-friendly and 2) I have shoulder mobility issues, and it gets tricky to unzip. I did consider a return for the second reason, but I find the design too flattering and miraculously moisture-wicking to return. The clay color is lovely, and works well for three seasons or trips. Overall, love the dress and will likely wear it again today!

Overall I really like the dress, the color and fabric are great and I can see myself wearing this a ton especially if traveling.

The xl is a little loose for me in the chest (no bra required) and shorts. I thought about exchanging for a smaller size, but I think I would have issues with getting it over my hips if I had gotten the large. Since it looks nice and is comfy I'm keeping xl.

If they make another version with a longer zip, I would definitely size down.

The price is high, but if it holds up well The cost per a wear would make it worth it.

Not Curvy Friendly

The zipper is placed at the smallest point of the dress and the structure doesn't have any real give despite the spandex lining. I tried the small which I couldn't get over my butt, and exchanged for the medium which hangs off my top. Really disappointing as Alder is a wonderful brand, they always promote inclusive sizing, and the dress is clearly high quality. However the structural flaws make this sizing impossible for someone with curvy hips - this is a design flaw and one they should make amply clear so people can avoid the multi-month exchange process I just went through.
